SELF DEFENSE
Self defense is the practice of protecting oneself from physical harm or danger using a combination of awareness, prevention, and practical techniques. It involves more than just physical moves; it includes being alert to your surroundings, recognizing potential threats, and using assertive communication to de-escalate situations whenever possible.
Physically, self defense means applying techniques such as strikes (like heel palm strikes, knee or elbow strikes), blocks, and disengagement maneuvers to break free from or deter an attacker. Many self defense systems also teach responses to grabs, holds, or weapon threats, often using a person's own body strength and leverage rather than brute force.
In addition to unarmed tactics, self defense can incorporate the safe and legal use of tools like pepper spray, personal alarms, or other non-lethal weapons. Everyday objects—such as keys, pens, or bags—can be improvised for defense if necessary.
Legal self defense also extends to the justifiable use of force to protect your health and well-being under threat, within the boundaries defined by law. Ultimately, self defense is about empowerment, increasing your confidence, situational control, and the ability to avoid or survive dangerous situations.
